is an off-grid wilderness lodge set within Alaska’s Kodiak Island Archipelago on remote Raspberry Island. Nearly two-thousand-foot mountains rise behind the lodge, while nearby Afognak Island defines our view across narrow Raspberry Strait. 
 
Our comfortable main lodge sits at the center of our property, where our team freshly prepares breakfast and dinner and guests gather to dine, visit, and reflect on the day’s adventures.
 
Eight comfortable, fully appointed private guest cabins offer the peace and privacy to retire for true rest.
 
Our Nordic-themed spa, featuring our wood-fired banya (sauna), outdoor jetted hot tub, and wooden cold plunge soothe tired muscles and rejuvenate spirit.
 
Our modern hydroelectric and solar systems provide reliable, uninterrupted power, and our fresh, cold drinking water-still our favorite in the world.
 
The rest of the property quietly supports daily life — the fish processing building ensures the day’s catch is carefully vacuum-sealed, labeled, and frozen each evening in our large walk-in freezer, a workshop, greenhouse, team housing, firewood storage, and our Cabina, where Birch and Tiffany live.
 
All of this infrastructure runs quietly behind the scenes, ensuring life here — and your experience — remains seamless. Yet this all remains dwarfed by the raw, unbounded wilderness that surrounds us.

FAQ – OUR PROPERTY

Our team opens the lodge at 7:00am (each cabin includes a Keurig for early risers). Breakfast is served at 7:30am, with fishing and nature-viewing boats or bear viewing flights departing at 8:30am. Kayaking and hiking outings follow shortly after. 
 
Days are filled in the wilds beyond our property; fishing, hiking, sea kayaking, wildlife cruising, and/or fly out bear viewing.  Freshly prepared and made to order sack lunches are enjoyed in the field.
 
Activities conclude by 5:30pm, and evenings unfold with appetizers, beer from the kegerator or wine, often a crab boil, and the steady rhythm of our team filleting the day’s catch while guests and team recount the days’ events. Dinner is served at 7:30pm. Afterward, many guests enjoy the Nordic-style spa— banya, hot tub, and cold plunge.  The lodge closes at 9:00pm and our team retires for the night.  

Our guests most often arrive as couples, families, or groups of friends traveling together. Some are seeking a mix of experiences in remote Alaska, while others are here to focus on fishing.  Many are returning guests; comfortable with our routine here and typically happy to share past years adventures with newly arriving visitors. Friendships have been formed and sustained here over decades.

No, you won’t notice any limitations.  Aside from the surrounding wilderness, most guests forget we are off-grid. Electricity, heating, hot showers, and modern amenities operate seamlessly twenty-four hours a day. Starlink provides reliable Wi-Fi for satellite internet access and Wi-Fi calling.  Our fresh water, available in all buildings, is fresh, cold, and delicious.  Our lodge and private cabins have normal bathrooms with, showers, vanities, and flush toilets that operate as they do in any community.

We operate in coastal brown bear habitat; however, bear activity near the main buildings is rare given their natural wariness of humans. This is why our fly out bear viewing trips are just that, fly out.  In the event of an emergency, Tiffany is a Registered Nurse, several team members are certified in CPR and First Aid, and the United States Coast Guard maintains a base in Kodiak.  It is also not uncommon to have medical professionals among our guests, as well. 

Yes. We design one thoughtfully prepared menu each day and can accommodate gluten-free needs and certain dietary restrictions or dislikes when communicated in advance. Advance notice allows our culinary team to prepare appropriately and ensure your meals are both safe and enjoyable.

The Main Lodge

Built from locally milled Sitka spruce, the main lodge is the center of daily life at the property—warm, open, and positioned to look directly across Raspberry Strait toward the surrounding mountains and ocean.

Private Cabins

Eight private, fully appointed guest cabins offer quiet separation from the main lodge while remaining only a short walk away. Each cabin has its own view of the surrounding property and wilderness beyond.

Food and Drink

Meals are prepared from scratch each day, often centered around locally harvested seafood, with fresh breads, plated dinners, and complimentary beer and wine served in a relaxed communal atmosphere.

The pace naturally slows between activities—whether in the wood-fired sauna, hot tub, cold plunge, or simply watching weather and wildlife move through the strait from the deck.

Off Grid

The lodge operates independently through a hybrid hydro and solar power system designed specifically for the demands of remote coastal Alaska, where reliability matters as much as sustainability.

LOCATION

Located roughly 35 miles from Kodiak City on Raspberry Island, the lodge sits within a remote network of protected waterways, forested mountains, and open Pacific coastline accessible only by boat or floatplane.
