Kodiak Raspberry Island Lodge provided an extensive and diverse variety of wildlife in a remote and picturesque setting. Captain and Fishing Guide Abby and Guest Ron boated the largest King salmon so far, this season. And, in just a few days, we made friends.

An idyllic place! Birch and Tiffany are amazing hosts and have hired smart, interesting and fun staff. You can’t help but relax here. The fishing was awesome, the bear watch was incredible and the fly-over the Katmai Mountains glaciers and volcanos was breathtaking. Hiking around the lodge was a picture at every step.

This was a most spectacular vacation. I’ve never caught silver salmon before and what a great experience that was. I was proud of my 45 pound ling cod, then Jon landed a 180 pound halibut! Bringing up the crab pot was a treat. And all the whale watching was an unexpected thrill. I’m eating the fish now and it is wonderful. Thanks to Birch for all the fishing tips and to Tiffany for all the excellent food. I’ll be back, for sure. – September 2014

This was our third visit to the lodge but our first time fishing for Silvers in the rivers. They are BIG fish! We had a great time and plan on returning again (and again and again …).

The RIRL vacation surpassed my expectations and provided a lasting experience one will never forget. Thanks for sharing your part of paradise and beautiful home, and by the way the fishing wasn’t too shoddy either; Birchie you’ll have to get us onto something bigger than 215 lbs on our next visit !!!

We had a wonderful time enjoying the beautiful spot you have picked out for your home and the top notch hospitality. I invite others to experience what cannot be described with words and pictures. One of the most spectacular places on earth.  Truly the trip of a lifetime with memories and new friends we will cherish forever.

Two retired professors from Auburn University wanted to fish while escaping the summer heat. Kodiak Island was perfect, we never broke a sweat. Fishing for salmon, halibut and other species of lesser name was the aim. We were not disappointed and our home freezers hold the proof. The big one that did not get away weighed 121 lb ( see pictures ). Tiffany and the children were tending to family duties in South Dakota but Birch took good care of us along with his attentive help. Accomodations were excellent as was the food. Along with the fish, we helped trap Tanner crabs which were served fresh and hot at the end of the day while Birch cleaned the days catch. A half day, fly-in bear watch did not disappoint. Our experience was worth every penny and we recommend Raspberry Island Remote Lodge to anyone who would like to experience the beauty, wildlife and fishing that Alaska has to offer. Thanks Birch!
