Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge

is our home. Birch and Tiffany are the sole owners of the property and business, and we do not maintain a second residence elsewhere. Birch was raised here, arriving as a child when his parents chose this remote stretch of the Kodiak Archipelago as the place to build a life. Years later, we met here, were married here, and raised our children here. This is not a place we come to — it is where our life has unfolded.
In 2021, we stepped slightly back from the center of daily operations, moving from the main lodge into our Cabina on North Beach — our favorite place in the world. It offers a bit of quiet and perspective, while keeping us fully connected to the rhythm of the lodge and the land around it.
When winter settles in and the days grow short, Birch and Tiffany may leave for a time—often in search of family, friends, sunshine, sand, and a different pace of life. Even so, Raspberry Island is never far from us. We stay closely connected, communicating with guests daily while planning and preparing for the seasons ahead.
On the island, caretakers and support team remain year-round, maintaining the property, completing improvements, and ensuring everything is ready for the return of guests each spring.
Each season, our team arrives from across the country and becomes part of this place as well. They live and work alongside us, sharing in both the pace and the purpose of life here. The lodge becomes a small, self-contained community — shaped as much by the people as by the landscape.
The work is real. Running an off-grid lodge in a remote coastal environment demands attention, adaptability, and trust in one another. Weather shifts, logistics evolve, and no two days are quite the same. But what stays constant are the people — both those who work here and those who return as guests, year after year, becoming part of the extended story of the lodge.
At the end of the day, it is that combination — people and place — that defines why we are here, and why we continue.
