Another fun day yesterday, worked up our limit on smaller halibut, and were fishing for the last 'under' when the bigger fish moved in and had to release a pair in the mid 40s; they were biting as soon as the gear hit the bottom, got our last under and moved on! Checked 5 different rivers to find a few Silvers here and there, but not enough to bring home too many.
I'll also point out Grant, age 14, is here with his Grandfather on his first fishing trip and is doing great! He was first to get his limit on the first day of fishing for salmon, has moved a few of the bigger halibut we've caught this week, and says he thinks being a fishing guide wouldn't be all that bad. What have you started Grandpa Dave??? Keep an eye on the webcam tonight to see what Grant catches today.
More fishing, sometimes doing very well on Silvers, sometimes they're just completely off the bite, interesting to watch as the various weather patterns push through. Also got into the halibut again yesterday with a good collection of fish from "unders" to mid 30s. NE forecast today; we'll see what that does to the fish!
Sorry for the lack of posts! Fishing has been interesting, sometimes pounding the salmon, sometimes they're off the bite; its encouraging to see the fish and are excited for our river season to start shortly. Weather has been up and down, unfortunately canceling another bear view for us yesterday. Looking forward to sunshine and lots of fish this week, hopefully!!
