Hello and thank you for your interest in Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge’s S.A.S (Super Adult Staff) program! It is set up to share this beautiful wilderness with you, in exchange for you taking the responsibility of a few very important jobs necessary for us to offer our guests the experience they expect and deserve.

What we offer: We would like you to join us for our standard week long trip here at Kodiak Raspberry Island Remote Lodge. We ask that you schedule your tickets into Kodiak on a pre-agreed upon flight that will coordinate with other guests we may have coming and going. We will arrange your transportation to Raspberry from Kodiak. A two week or longer stay may be arranged depending on the circumstances. You will stay in our staff cabin, complete with indoor bathroom and shower. When you have finished your pre assigned jobs, you are welcome to enjoy the locale through hiking, kayaking, and relaxation as you please. It is important that you understand before you arrive here that you will not be fishing with the guests on the Gemini and fishing boats. There are limited spaces on these boats and they are reserved for the comforts of our paying guests. You will be on your own during your free time.

Your responsibilities: You will have three very important jobs while you are here. Every morning we prepare lunches for our guests based on customized orders we took the night before. These are most often various kinds of sandwiches. This will be your first job. We ask that you arrive at the lodge no later than 6:30am and prepare the sandwiches for the day. This usually takes about an hour, but must be complete by 8:30 when the guests depart for the day of activity. Next, we ask that you help our kitchen staff wash dishes and clean up after breakfast. Your second job will begin at 5:00pm. Upon returning to the lodge we fillet our guest’s fish and vacuum seal them with our commercial vacuum sealer. Your job will be putting the fillets into the vacuum seal bags and operating the vacuum sealer. It is a very easy, safe tool; you just put the bags inside and close the lid. Then take the bag out and place it in our freezer. This can take a few hours, depending on how many fish we catch. Once you are done with this job, please check in with the kitchen and help clean up the kitchen and lodge and prepare for the next day. That’s it! The rest of the time you are free to have fun! You can ‘volunteer’ to help out with other tasks, but please know you are not expected to.

Other expectations: We do have a few other criteria. We expect you to present yourself in a professional manner and appearance. That doesn’t mean mind all your p’s and q’s and wear a tie, it just means please dress tidily and don’t repeatedly drop the “f-bomb” and other choice words. The guests we have are very pleasant people and are not intimidating, so relax and be yourself. Please clean up after yourself after lunch, and please take care of our equipment (kayaks etc.) that you might use during your break time. We will also expect you to change the sheets on your bed and clean up the staff cabin upon your departure.

Please understand that each of us will be extremely busy every moment of every day. Please don’t be offended if we don’t have time to chit chat or if we’re even stand off-ish. This is the time of year we make the money that we need to live off of during the winter off-season months, and represents whether or not our guests will choose to return and/or recommend us to anyone else. We have a lot on our minds!

If you are interested in this program please e mail us with a list of your qualifications, how long you are interested in staying, what activities you are interested in during your break time, and which week (s) would work best for you!
